Meet Jeff Poritz - Founder & CEO of Bay to Bay Resinous Coatings & Waterproofing.
Some leaders are built in boardrooms. Jeff Poritz was built in the ring. Born and raised in Broward County, South Florida, Jeff's story began long before Bay to Bay Resinous Coatings & Waterproofing ever existed. As a high-level junior Olympic amateur boxer, Jeff was training in major professional boxing camps at an age when most kids were still figuring out who they wanted to be. After finishing the last stretch of high school in Tampa, he returned to South Florida with no clear plan, only an instinct that the region was on the verge of something big. He was right. South Florida was booming, and Jeff was about to become part of that story.
At just 19 years old, in 2008, Jeff started his first service business, a marble polishing company called RX Marble, Inc., built out of a tiny office and a 50 square foot equipment storage space, with little more than a van and a relentless work ethic. What started as a chance partnership with an old boxing friend would become the foundation for everything Jeff would go on to build.
By 2009, RX Marble, Inc. had already made its mark and was selected as the first company to restore the historic marble flooring at the Wakulla Springs State Lodge in Tallahassee, Florida, after 90 years without restoration. In 2012, Jeff expanded into polished concrete and shifted the company's focus toward commercial work, setting the stage for the next era of growth.
In 2015, Jeff completed his first national government project, delivering 50,000 square feet of work for Patrick Air Force Base, a milestone that marked the company's entry into large-scale federal and military construction. Just three years later, in 2018, the company was recognized with Coatings Project of the Year by CoatingsPro Magazine for its work at Raymond James Stadium, covering more than 280,000 square feet.
In 2019, Jeff and his team were awarded one of the most demanding buildouts in the Southeast, the historic Guitar Hotel at Hard Rock Hollywood for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, coating and leveling over 200,000 square feet of numerous coatings materials. Bay to Bay was one of only a handful of subcontractors across every trade to make it from the project's beginning to its completion, a testament to the reliability and consistency that would come to define the company's reputation.
Between 2020 and 2022, the company scaled to more than 100 field installers, expanding its reach to service projects throughout the United States and the Caribbean. In 2023, that national and international growth led to the completion of the National Hospital of Antigua for the federal government, delivering over 80,000 square feet of urethane cement installation for one of the most critical infrastructure projects in the region.
In 2024, Bay to Bay was awarded as the recipient of Tradesman of the Year for the first phase of Hallandale Beach's Sea Air Towers from the Construction Association of South Florida, a recognition that reflected not just project execution, but leadership and industry impact.
Perhaps most significantly, in 2024, Bay to Bay completed their first four-year 40-Year Inspection project at Sea Air Towers, the condominium complex located near the site of the Surfside towers collapse. The project resulted in a complete passing inspection, delivering not just a successful outcome, but was a testament to the newly opened waterproofing & restoration division Jeff and his team labored at amongst the new, strict Florida laws for waterside/waterfront properties.
Even as Bay to Bay Resinous Coatings & Waterproofing grew into a national contractor, Jeff never left boxing behind. In 2011, he made a small return to the sport. Having extinguished the internal athlete's flame of competition, Jeff set his sights on becoming a full-time boxing trainer. What started informally grew into something much bigger. In 2015, Jeff opened his first boxing gym, training both amateurs and professionals. That gym would eventually become Bay to Bay Professional Boxing, now recognized as one of South Florida's most premier and private professional boxing gyms; a space frequently used by major names in the sport for sparring and often featured in the sports' many interviews, documentaries, and fighter-based videography. Under Jeff's training, his stable of fighters has earned more than four major title fights to date.
In 2023, Jeff and a small group of partners founded the Bay to Bay Youth Boxing Education Foundation, a nonprofit created to give back to the community that shaped his own path. Boxing gave Jeff structure, discipline, and a way to fight his way out of nothing and into success - and through the foundation, he is committed to giving that same opportunity to the next generation of young people in South Florida.
Whether in the ring, on the job site, or in the boardroom, Jeff Poritz has built his life and his career on the same foundation - discipline, resilience, and the refusal to accept anything less than excellence. From a small Weston, FL office to national government contracts, championship fighters, and a nonprofit changing young lives, Jeff's story is proof that the right mindset, applied consistently over time, can build something far greater than anyone could have imagined.
