TRAFFIC COATINGS & MOISTURE VAPOR BARRIER AT MOTE MARINE LABORATORY

Bay to Bay has finished a large scope of multiple flooring solutions at the new Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. The project was completed in stages, and the first fresh-concrete coatings were the starting point for Florida's newest and aquarium attraction.

Mechanical pads and back-of-house poured concrete was surface prepped by the team, reading the pads for urethane cement, which offered thermal-shock protection. All of the substrate that was coated during Bay to Bay's project stop was also staged with moisture vapor barrier, an above-substrate system that lays as a protective membrane from water intrusion and adheres perfectly to the resinous coating solutions that were applied over it.

The intricate design of the building showcases its STEM labs right away and lures you in with interactive exhibits like pop-up penguin viewing and hands-on touch tanks. The wonderment of it all is a balance between Mote’s conservation research and community outreach.
